چکیده

Sediment transport over an erodible sediment bed is studied by particle resolved simulations with a hybrid parallel approach. To overcome the challenges of load imbalance in traditional domain decomposition method when encountering highly uneven distributions particles transport, approach Darmana et al.(2006) originally developed for point modified and implemented into simulations. A novel memory optimization technique proposed to reduce requirement spherical equal size. The present shows good scalability high efficiency challenging test case more than million particles. Our code validated several benchmark cases, results show agreement experimental computational data literature. Furthermore, turbulent flow simulated. An extraction distinguish saltating rolling extract impact rebound information particle-mobile interaction. probability distribution functions (PDF) saltation parameters such as velocity, angle, spanwise angular velocity events are presented. Splash established interaction flow, which was rarely investigated experiments helpful model complex particle-bed interactions flow.

Simulation of passive scalar transport using hybrid grid-particle method with improved particle shifting approach

Passive scalar transport is a fundamental problem of a variety of industrial applications. One of the representatives is the fluid mixing process [1], which has been intensively studied as an important physical phenomenon in chemical engineering field. A number of numerical calculations of passive scalar transport problem have been carried out by means of the gridbased approach. However, the gr...

Parallel and distributed simulation of sediment dynamics in shallow water using particle decomposition approach

This paper describes the parallel simulation of sediment dynamics in shallow water. By using a Lagrangian model, the problem is transformed to one in which a large number of independent particles must be tracked. This results in a technique that can be parallelised with high efficiency. We have developed a sediment transport model using three different sediment suspension methods. The first met...

Effects of Sediment Transport on Survival of Salmonid Embryos in a Natural Stream: A Simulation Approach

A model is presented that simulates the effects of streamflow and sediment transport on survival of salmonid embryos incubating in spawning gravels in a natural channel. Components of the model include a 6-yr streamflow record, an empirical bed load-transport function, a relation between transport and infiltration of sandy bedload into a gravel bed, effects of fine-sediment infiltration on grav...
